Style of Practice…

Each physician has an independent office practice where she receives and cares for her maternity patients.  During regular office hours your personal physician will direct your care.

Each physician is responsible for one 24 hour period per week when she will be available to the hospital for all of the group's prenatal, delivery and postnatal care.

A commitment is made to provide personal care throughout your hospital stay. Our presence during your labour will insure timely decision making, and provide a reassuring and supportive environment for you and your family.

Our Philosophy…

Quintessence is a six physician, group maternity practice. We created this team to provide and develop an excellence in family centered maternity care. We have a wealth of experience collectively and look forward to sharing our knowledge and skills with you. Our name also reflects the fact that we recognize five periods . 0-10 weeks, 10-20 weeks, 20-30 weeks, 30-40 weeks, and 40-50 weeks.  Each period has specific issues that we deal with, and the post partum period is fully recognized  . As a group we honour those who have provided this care over the ages. We also honour our training in Western Medicine and strive to blend the old with the new to reach our goal of excellence in maternity care.

Evenings and weekends you can reach the Doctor on Call by dialing 370-8180.  Please leave a message stating the following information:

The Doctor on call will respond as soon as possible.

Pre-Natal Care…

There are many options for prenatal classes in Victoria and we would encourage you to participate in one.  Your doctor’s office should have a number of brochures available and will be able to assist you in choosing the best pre-natal care for yourself.

Privacy of Medical Information

We respect your right to privacy and although we need to share your information within the group, every effort will be made to treat your personal records with a high degree of security.

Teaching Role

With the advent of the medical School in Victoria we may be asked to provide a teaching role.  You will have the opportunity to choose to participate in this model of care.

Summary

We feel confident that we have a very compatible group of dedicated and caring physicians to see you through a very exciting but stressful time in your family life.  We feel that although you are not guaranteed to have your personal physician at the delivery, you will gain by having physicians who are well rested and focused on your needs.  Any one of us will be happy to answer further questions you may have.
